In addition to the annual, one-month long HERCULES school (http:\/\/hercules-school.eu<\/a>)
\norganised in Grenoble and partner sites in March 2019, THE HERCULES SCHOOL AND THE
\nSOLARIS NATIONAL SYNCHROTRON RADIATION CENTRE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE
\nTHE\u00a0<\/strong>FIRST \u2018HERCULES REGIONAL SCHOOL\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0http:\/\/www.synchrotron.uj.edu.pl\/hercules<\/a><\/p>\n

This one-week school:
\n* will take place at the SOLARIS NATIONAL SYNCHROTRON RADIATION CENTRE IN KRAK\u00d3W, POLAND
\n*\u00a0FROM 4 TO 9 NOVEMBER 2018<\/strong>
\n* is TARGETED TOWARDS NEW USERS OF SYNCHROTRON RADIATION, coming from East and South-East
\nEurope countries (including EU-associated countries) as well as Portugal.<\/p>\n

The course will consist of LECTURES, PRACTICALS and TUTORIALS covering
\ntopics in SYNCHROTRON RADIATION, including:<\/p>\n

* _Introduction to synchrotron radiation and interaction with matter_
\n* _Spectroscopy and absorption_
\n* _Powder Diffraction_
\n* _Imaging techniques_
\n* _Biology and soft condensed matter_
\n* _ARPES and XPEEM_
\n* _Introduction to neutron_
\n* _Introduction to XFEL_
\n* _…_<\/p>\n

The school will include THREE HALF-DAYS OF TUTORIALS AND PRACTICALS on
\nSOLARIS beamlines and associated laboratories.<\/p>\n

REGISTRATION:<\/p>\n

* IS OPEN UNTIL 23 SEPTEMBER 2018
\n* Participants (up to 24) will be selected and the participation confirmed by 2 October 2018<\/p>\n
