The first scientific article presenting research performed at SOLARIS beamline has been published in a prestigious Nature Research journal – Scientific Reports.
The authors investigate one-directional anisotropy induced by exchange interactions (exchange bias)- the phenomenon already known for over 60 years. The most often it is observed in double layers AFM/FM and manifests itself by shifting the histeresis loop from zero. Scientists from AGH University of Science and Technology and from SOLARIS have shown how the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of Fe layer can be used to control magnetic anisotropy of the next neighbor layer of antiferromagnetic CoO oxide. The results allow for explanation of the origin and generalization of the „exchange bias”phenomenon i many FM/AFM systems.
